圣保罗竞技场的处女秀将是2014巴西世界杯开幕战——巴西vs克罗地亚，千万亿的目光将从全世界的每个角落汇聚到这个热情沸腾的全新体育场。

圣保罗是巴西乃至南半球最大的都市，也是南美洲最为富裕的城市。圣保罗竞技场的选址却是在圣保罗最贫困的区域，这个决策更重要是为了合理分配城市资源，帮助推动区域经济，有近1万居民直接或间接被雇佣，参与了这项工程。

预计将会有超过30万的游客在开幕战当天从世界各地涌入这个城市，世界杯将为圣保罗创造4.26亿美元的收入，世界杯结束后的未来十年里，圣保罗将藉此产生128亿美元收入。

Aside from being one of the stadia to be used in the 2014 Brazil World Cup, Arena de Sao Paolo or Arena Corinthians is built to be the future home of one of the most famous football clubs in the city of Sao Paolo: Corinthians.

For years, Corinthians shared Pacaembu Stadium with other clubs because their own stadium, Alfredo Shurig Stadium, had a small capacity of 14,000.

But the club’s worries will now be erased with the construction of Arena Corinthians, which will be the home of the five-time Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A champions.

The new stadium, which will host six matches in the 2014 World Cup including the competition’s opening match, will be an all-seater with a capacity of 48,234. But because of FIFA’s requests, Arene Corinthians will add around 17,000 temporary seats in the opening match of the World Cup.
